Our in-house creative team chooses a featured Mate Our in-house creative team chooses a featured Material Of The Month each month. For October's MOTM we chose Smoke - a flame retardant lighter-than-the-air innovative woven polyester (8 gr/m2) with a magical surface finish whose metallic sheen reflects the light when manipulated. The finish is a roll-to-roll sputter-coating of a metal film, at a nano-level. It is recognised as an eco-friendly non-aqueous colouration and finishing technology as it does not create any pollution or discharge pollutants during processing. This thin film deposition technique creates a finish of excellent uniformity, density and purity. As the coating is applied at a nano-level, it does not affect the weight or texture of the material at all, whilst imbuing it with a unique metallic reflective sheen. This 8 gr/m2 material is practically weightless, making it capable of floating in the air graciously on a breeze, like a cloud of smoke. Smoke is sold on the roll, with a width of 155 cm, and is available in 2 colours and an airy 8 gr/m2 weight. Our Glassy in motion! Glassy is composed of 100% Our Glassy in motion! Glassy is composed of 100% mineral woven glass fibres, with a light induction to awaken the colour and render it non-irritant and soft to the touch. By virtue of its composition and coating, it is weatherproof, resistant to humidity and mould, and can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. It has an M1 building classification, making it non-flammable, to EU standard EN 13501-1. Glassy is sold in roll format with a width of 150 cm and a weight of 300 gr/m² in 7 different sparkling colours. Our Lack-Luminium was featured in the latest issue Our Lack-Luminium was featured in the latest issue of AMC Magazine @amc_magazine (N.317, October 2023.) Lack-Luminium is composed of glossy Vernis laminated onto lightweight aluminium support – it is easily malleable and formable by hand and holds its shape without tooling. The surface coating of Vernis is composed of 100% PVC whilst the support is 100% aluminium. The version they included has a white gloss finish. Lack-Luminium is available in roll format, with a width of 130 cm and a thickness of only 0,40 mm. The surface is certified M2 non-flammable though the support is M1. Our in-house creative team chooses a featured Mate Our in-house creative team chooses a featured Material Of The Month each month. For September's MOTM we focused on Reptile - a remarkably supple lifelike snakeskin alternative, composed of 100% polyester. A polyester microfibre textile which is first digitally printed roll-to-roll before being laminated with a selective gloss, to imitate shiny snake scales. When manipulated in the light, the glossy printed scales catch the light, emulating relief, making Reptile glisten and shine like a real snakeskin. Shown here in a classic brown, giving a python-like snake effect, but it also comes in fantasy jewel colours including reds, oranges, blues and purples. Reptile can be cut and sewn easily and used like a regular textile. Available in roll format with a width of 140 cm and weight of 160 gr/m2. Reptile comes in 20 scaly colours. The CMF congress is a biannual multi-material congress offering an overview of new trends in design and decoration and material innovations mainly in the automotive field while offering an opportunity to rethink our habits and processes.
